The Center was founded in 1996
by Michel Sainvil. Since the inception
of the Center, Mr. Sainvil has served as the Executive Director.
From the beginning, the Center has assisted thousands of people in Miami-Dade County
including many hard-to-serve clients, such as those with disabilities, the
illiterate, the sick and infirm, and immigrants.
The Center has the capacity to serve a large volume of
clients county-wide with staff comprised of: counselors, case managers, housing
specialists and teachers in Little Haiti and Florida City. As of 2011, the
Center has assisted over 5,000 people in need a year.
The staff is diversified -
linguistically and culturally competent. It employs native speakers of English, Spanish and Creole with deep
roots abroad and in the minority communities of the United States. Staff members include Haitians, African
Americans, Caribbeans, Hispanics and non-Hispanics.
